Collaboration is critical at the global level to support an effective risk response to this crisis.

The rapid global developments of COVID-19 are creating greatly elevated levels of disruption from both a human and economic perspective and unprecedented levels of uncertainty on a global, political, business and personal level.  This has resulted in heightened levels of risk exposures for financial services firms globally.

Risk exposures range from the directly relevant risks such as disruption of customer related business processes and safety of employees as well as other indirect exposures as a result of the responses to deal with COVID-19 threats such as increased risk of cyber-attacks due to employees working from home. As risk management professionals we are passionate about the positive role risk management can play in the management of COVID-19 and its related risks. It is therefore critical that operational risk management practitioners collaborate at the global level to support their firm’s effective risk response to this crisis.

This webinar series is aimed at connecting like-minded risk management professionals to share ideas and aim at identifying and sharing what “good practice” looks like as this pandemic unfolds.

Each session has a duration of approximately 60 minutes, and all the topics were recorded live during April and May 2020, following this agenda:

  1. A pragmatic analysis of the COVID-19 risks including interconnections with other risks
  2. An analysis of COVID-19 risk treatments (including controls)
  3. A practical approach for processes to manage COVID-19 risks (including decision making)
  4. Effective COVID-19 risk governance,
  5. Identifying effective KRIs for monitoring operational risks
  6. Building scenarios to assess COVID-19 risk exposures
  7. Practical demonstration of ERM processes applied to COVID-19 using Protecht.ERM

Objectives

The objectives of the webinar series are to provide a global on-line, live platform for financial services risk professionals to:

  • Gain practical insights into managing the direct and indirect risks of COVID-19 as it develops.
  • Be aware of recent COVID-19 related risk incidents at financial service firms and what can we learn from them.
  • Share views and experiences of COVID-19 risk management practices so as to support each other in best practice and shared experiences.
